I just finished this book. The details of crossing the Atlantic and coming up the Mississippi by riverboat are mind boggling and tear jerking. Let me tell you, I would have just stayed home. Since we have forebearers who made such trips, I found this story to be extremely personal and I wonder about my excuses.
