The Water Came Up

Monday morning, Mar 19th at 2:00 AM, Bob discovered 4 inches of water in our downstairs. What a mess. This is the family room after sweeping the water out and down the drain in the laundry room. There was to be no more relaxing in this room for the next 12 days. And every other room downstairs looked just the same.

Note to self: NEVER store anything in a cardboard box that sits on the same floor level as the hot water heater. I immediately went to purchase more plastic tubs.

Just an example of how quickly the wood soaks up the water.

All of these cords and power strips were under water......The new computer has been ordered.

55 years of patterns ......gone. I tried to dry some out and decided to forget that!

The culprit. The heating element blew loose from its fitting.

Oh yes, and we are still cleaning the place of all of the damage done from the ice storm. But we are counting our blessings. It could have all been so much worse and we have the umph to work.

The Petersen Twins

Ben has meetings in Tennesse starting this coming Monday. He extended the trip with a weekend stop in Atlanta to see Jay and his family. Besides the beautiful Georgia sunshine, getting together has wonderful rewards.

March 13, 2012

Our car after being parked at Ben's house for 15 minutes this morning. Yes, snow in the middle of March.

We won't be playing out there today like we were last Thursday!

Kids love this! The cars paint track toy is the biggest water mess maker I know. The only water safe place is the tile kitchen floor.

And Quinn is so pleased that she chose her own clothes and dressed herself! Whatever she chooses is fine with me.

March Wind Storm

The wind started blowing last night. With strong gusts still blasting us, the lights flickered at 7:30 am. I filled up drinking water pitchers and then the lights went out for good. Leaving later than usual to be with the kids, this is what we saw on our road. The light pole on the right is the corner of our place. Needless to say, we weren't traveling our usual way!
The power was out in Hawks Prairie as well. We had a cold morning, playing under the blankets and letting the wind howl around the house. Power was restored in time for lunch. Joel did an up and down dance in excited happiness.
