The ritual of layering enough clothes to keep warm took more time than the kids acutally stayed outside. However these two little girls, Joleen and Shannon, would insist on going out at least long enough to get hands cold, feet wet and roses in their cheeks. A good ride on the old sled was the highlight. And long enough for me to find the camera. .
Oh yes, note that Joleen is trying to make her tongue fill the the blank space left by her missing teeth.

I have always loved this picture. Joleen looks much more confident than I do. I see that I am not wearing my mitten, but doing a good job of holding on to it.
