My Favorite Maple

Like a lot of other things in life, I really should keep this maple better pruned.  However, like yesterday, when the east coast and inland were enduring a catastrophic storm, this tree and its glorious color was like a sentinal in our yard.

Lacey leaves against a noble fir.

Gusty wind brought down a blanket of gold and copper on the garden path.  Note the volunteer fir seedling on the left.

There is something very peaceful about fall colors. We are blessed to live out of the storms, for now.
